Should Every Lawyer Be Just A “CHARGE AND BAIL” Kind Of Lawyer?

Four friends – Jamilah, Jane, Jibola, and Joe – got admitted into University to study law.

Five years later, they all graduated and went to law school.

After law school, they were certified Barristers and could use their authority to do stuff.

But something happened to these friends.

They didn’t follow the same path even though they graduated as lawyers and remained lawyers.

What happened?

…👣👣👣

⚡First, Jamilah.

She was appointed to be a lecturer in her school.

She accepted it.

She wrote books and taught students coming into the school.

⚡Jane wanted something more.

Before graduation, she’s been carrying out projects with her brother, Kelvin, an entrepreneur, where she discovered a loophole amongst small business owners.

What was it?

Most small business owners didn’t understand the legal aspect of a business.

So?

So, Jane had to register a legal consulting firm to help small businesses with their legal matters.

⚡Jibola has always been the book worm.

He went further into law to do his Master’s and Ph.D.

He wanted to discover new things in the field of law.

Research became his focus.

⚡Lastly, Joe.

Joe joined a firm where he became one of the solicitors in the chambers.

He was doing well like the others.

Each of them taking on different faces as lawyers.

A few years later, they had a reunion as friends.

And in the course of their conversation, they realized that they were all in the field as lawyers but with different faces.

Jamilah was expressing the face of a TEACHER.

(A teacher in any profession is tasked with transferring knowledge from generation to generation…

Sometimes they love to write and even read…

They have the gift of TEACHING or love to TEACH…

The most important thing is that they are tasked with transferring the knowledge of the course or field from generation to generation.)

Jane was engrossed in ENTREPRENEURSHIP, in the field of law.

She didn’t want to do the normal thing.

(The ENTREPRENEUR looks for economic or business-related opportunities or problems in their field and they use businesses to solve those problems…

… A doctor who starts a business to sell health equipment is another example.)

Jibola has the face of the RESEARCHER.

(Researchers love to read and experiment and innovate…

They love to know more and more about their profession…

So most times you see them researching and studying further into Ph.D. and discovering new grounds in their field of study.)

Joe is with the face of the TECHNICIAN.

(They do the direct or normal work of the profession…

Another example is an architect who graduates from school and starts to design houses…

He has the face of the TECHNICIAN.)

Why all these descriptions?

As I study in school, I don’t have to compare myself with others.

I don’t have to feel lost in my course.

My make-up as a person can determine the face I’ll carry in my field.

I might be scared to go for it because no one is doing it.

But what if I do it and become the first to open that ground?

However, I need to make sure to evaluate my options all the time.

Almost everyone starts from the technician face.

It’s cool.

But if I see more of myself with another face, I’ll strategically go for it.

I know there can be lots of opportunities in there.

Note: I believe there are other faces. So don’t limit yourself to these faces.

Our Assignment:

1. What course am I studying?
2. What face(s) do I carry? (Even if you don’t know, don’t feel off. It’s a process.)

The point is this: you can stand out in your profession and not just do what every other person has done…

… so that you won’t be Wowed After School.

So, what face(s) do you carry?
